June 2023 – The Legal 500 United States 2023 edition, which recognizes firms that “handle sophisticated and complex work,” named Kendall Brill & Kelly LLP one of the nation’s leading Media and Entertainment Litigation law firms in 2023 – the fourth year it has achieved this honor. The Legal 500 also recognized Partner Richard B. Kendall as a Leading Lawyer in Media and Entertainment Litigation for the second year in a row.
The organization said it bases its rankings on feedback from peers and clients and focuses on the “true superstars of the profession.” In recognizing KBK, The Legal 500 noted that the firm represents a “wide range of entertainment clients, notably from across the film and music industry, in breach of contract dispute, entertainment finance litigations,” and other matters. The 2023 edition also referenced the firm’s representations of several notable clients, including Creative Artists Agency LLC, Regency Entertainment Inc., Monarchy Enterprises S.A.R.L., and actor Brad Pitt.
In naming Mr. Kendall a Leading Lawyer, The Legal 500 said he has a “strong track record in distribution rights and profit participation disputes.” The edition referenced the work of “resourceful litigator” KBK Partner Philip M. Kelly, who has “expertise in an array of entertainment litigation matters” and said his “recent international arbitration” for Paramount Global “showcases his versatility.”
It also noted that Partner Nary Kim is “an accomplished trial lawyer who, in a recent highlight, played a key part in the dismissal of a child pornography suit filed by a man who appeared as a naked baby on the 1991 Nirvana album “Nevermind.” In addition, the edition pointed out that Laura W. Brill handles many of the media and entertainment appeals for the firm.
