January 2026 – Kendall Brill & Kelly LLP (KBK) is pleased to announce the promotion of David T. Freenock to partner – further strengthening the firm’s skilled complex commercial litigation team in trial-level and appellate matters.

Mr. Freenock, who was recently named a 2025 Lawdragon Next Generation Lawyer, joined KBK in 2022 and has since established a proven track record of winning high-stakes, complex litigation for clients in disputes across both state and federal courts. He brings a decisive, business-forward approach to his practice, and he routinely represents both plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving breach of contract, fraud, professional malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty, defamation, intellectual property, consumer class actions, shareholder derivative actions, and constitutional and regulatory challenges.

At the trial court level, Mr. Freenock has secured dismissals with prejudice on motions to dismiss and for summary judgment and has successfully compelled arbitration in commercial disputes. He also serves as a trusted appellate adviser for KBK clients, preserving trial-level victories and pursuing reversals on appeal.

“I am delighted that David has received this deserved recognition,” said KBK Counsel Bert. H. Deixler. “His achievement demonstrates that he embodies the KBK values of brilliant thinking, excellent writing, hard work, and client focus. Nice guys do finish first!”

During his time with KBK, Mr. Freenock has served as a key member of teams on numerous high-profile matters, including the successful representation of Nirvana, Universal Music Group, and other defendants in securing dismissal with prejudice of a lawsuit challenging the legality of the band’s iconic Nevermind album cover. He also helped secure summary judgment dismissing all claims with prejudice in malpractice litigation on behalf of a Big Law firm arising from an appeal of a complex landlord-tenant dispute, and he has played a central role in securing summary judgment in high-profile litigation involving the Wasserman Group and Laundry Service.

“We are thrilled to welcome David to the partnership,” said KBK Partner Patrick J. Somers. “David is a star who exemplifies what it means to be a KBK attorney. He is fiercely dedicated to our clients. I have watched David use his extraordinary talents and judgment to guide and to advocate for our clients, while achieving significant victories.”

Mr. Freenock earned his Juris Doctor at University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2017, where he graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif. He earned a Bioethics M.A. from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania that same year, and he previously graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A. in Government in 2012. After law school, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Raymond Fisher in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and to the Honorable Kimba Wood in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Outside of the office, Mr. Freenock is committed to pro bono representation and received the Immigrants’ Rights Award from the ACLU of Southern California in 2021.
