March 2022 – Kendall Brill & Kelly Partner Laura W. Brill was elected as a member of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers at the Academy’s recent Board of Directors meeting. Due to its high standards and limited membership, The Academy’s Fellows “rank among the “Who’s Who” of appellate practice in the jurisdictions where they appear.”
The American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, which was founded in 1990 to recognize outstanding appellate lawyers and promote the improvement of appellate advocacy and the administration of the appellate courts, elects its members based on “a reputation of recognized distinction as an appellate lawyer.”
The Academy limits its invitation-only membership to 500 members across the United States and is reserved “for experienced appellate advocates who have demonstrated the highest skill level and integrity.” Nominees are vetted by the legal and judicial communities and must be elected to the fellowship by the board of directors. Only lawyers whose practice has focused substantially on appeals during at least the last 15 years are eligible for membership.
