September 2023 — Daily Journal, which serves as California’s largest legal publication, has named Kendall Brill & Kelly LLP Partner Nary Kim to the 2023 edition of its Top 40 Under 40 list. The annual list recognizes, interviews, and profiles the top lawyers in California under the age of 40 who are making a mark on the state’s legal industry.

The publication’s Top 40 Under 40 profile recognized Ms. Kim for her notable recent successes, particularly in the entertainment sector, including serving on the team that defeated a $500 million lawsuit against Paramount brought by the stars of the 1968 film adaption of “Romeo and Juliet” and securing the early dismissal of a child pornography case filed against Nirvana and its record label by the person pictured on the band’s iconic “Nevermind” album cover.

Daily Journal further cited Ms. Kim’s representation of high-profile entertainment clients including Lionsgate, for whom she recently helped defeat a request for a temporary restraining order to block the film “The Blackening,” TikTok, and Paramount, for whom she “helped bring in a $15 million win” in a breach of contract case involving plans to build a theme park based on movies such as “Mission Impossible.” The publication also recognized Ms. Kim for serving as co-lead representing Paramount in a dispute over the right to produce and stream new episodes of “South Park.”

Ms. Kim was quick to praise her Kendall Brill & Kelly colleagues in the interview, saying that she works with “a really great group of lawyers…lots of entertainment powerhouses…who were very generous about spending time with a younger lawyer.”

Ms. Kim is an accomplished litigator who has helped build compelling and convincing cases for a wide range of high-profile clients, including major film and television studios, music labels and brands, top-tier law firms, and leading entertainment figures and artists. In addition to this award, she has received numerous accolades in honor of her achievements, including Law360’s Rising Star Award, Variety’s “Up Next” recognition, and being named to both Lawdragon’s 500 X – The Next Generation list and Benchmark Litigation’s 40 & Under list, respectively.
