September 2020 – The state’s largest legal publication, the Daily Journal, today honored Kendall Brill & Kelly LLP Partner Richard B. Kendall as one of California’s Top 100 Lawyers. The publication recognized Mr. Kendall as a co-founder of KBK, saying the firm is a litigation “powerhouse.”
The Daily Journal specifically acknowledged Mr. Kendall for “remaining in the thick of one of Hollywood’s most important business practices lawsuits in a decade” in his role as lead counsel for Creative Artists Agency (CAA) in a dispute with the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) over the longstanding practice of negotiating packaging fees on television and film projects. The Daily Journal noted Mr. Kendall’s work in securing significant pre-trial wins in the case.
The publication also cited Mr. Kendall’s successful representation of two entertainment companies in an $18 million breach of contract case that resulted in the companies recouping their investments in Warren Beatty’s “Rules Don’t Apply” box-office flop.
