July 2025 – Kendall Brill & Kelly LLP (KBK) Partners Phil Kelly and Jeff Chemerinsky have been named among Los Angeles’ most influential legal practitioners by the Los Angeles Business Journal in its 2025 “Leaders of Influence: Litigators & Trial Attorneys” list. The publication’s annual guide honors “the very best litigators who go to the proverbial mat to fight for their clients before judges and jury” for their impact on the region’s legal profession, describing them as “a special breed of attorney that needs to transcend expert comprehension of the legal system.”
Mr. Kelly was praised in the profile as “one of Hollywood’s leading litigators” due to his significant victories and ongoing representations for prominent clients in the entertainment business, including Paramount Global, NBCUniversal, TikTok, Inc., CAA, and Lionsgate. The Journal noted that he is “a leading attorney in the firm’s award-winning media and entertainment litigation practice, with a track record of success in high-stakes disputes and multimillion-dollar litigation involving copyright infringement, film finance, profit participation, intellectual property licensing, and film and TV distribution agreements.”
Mr. Chemerinsky received recognition for his 15 years of experience as a civil- and criminal-trial attorney, and his accomplishments within the KBK white-collar defense and complex commercial practices. Notable cases cited include “a high-profile case on behalf of students and Prop 28 author Austin Beutner against LAUSD, seeking to enforce voter-mandated arts and music education funding” and his work on litigation pending in federal court over the iconic cover art for Nirvana’s Nevermind album.
