August 2026 – Kendall Brill & Kelly LLP (KBK) is pleased to announce that David A. Alpert has joined the firm, further strengthening KBK’s complex commercial litigation and white-collar defense and investigations practices.

Before joining KBK, Mr. Alpert served as an associate with Covington & Burling LLP where he represented high-profile clients in complex commercial disputes, white collar defense matters, and internal and government investigations. In that role, he first-chaired depositions, handled all aspects of trial preparation in significant matters including a nearly billion-dollar claim, and led and contributed to investigations before a range of federal agencies. His past representations include the defense of Amazon against separate antitrust suits brought by the California Attorney General’s Office and the Federal Trade Commission, and he separately drafted findings in a high-profile national security investigation opposite the Departments of Commerce and Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission – a matter that was resolved without any finding of criminal liability.

Mr. Alpert served as a law clerk to the Honorable Amit P. Mehta in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and previously externed with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. He earned his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School, where he was named a James Kent Scholar, Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, Public Interest Honoree, and served as Media Editor of the Columbia Law Review. He holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.

Mr. Alpert also maintains an active pro bono practice. He secured the release of an incarcerated client after preparing and counseling him through five parole hearings over four years, and through the International Refugee Assistance Project helped relocate an Afghan translator and four members of his family.
