May 2016 – The LA Business Journal featured KBK partner Alan Weil in a story about his expertise in karate. In addition to being ranked as one of the nation’s best legal malpractice litigators by The National Journal, Mr. Weil is a sixth degree black belt in the Shotokan karate discipline. He shares his knowledge and skills with others by teaching karate at UCLA and helping run the nonprofit West Los Angeles Karate School.

After four decades of practicing trial and appellate law and karate, he tells the Business Journal that law and karate are based on similar principles: “The mental focus and strategic decision-making at play in both disciplines have a lot of interesting parallels.”
