June 2022 – The national legal publication Law360 honored Kendall Brill & Kelly LLP Partner Nary Kim who was selected as one of the nation’s top five Media and Entertainment law practitioners under 40.
The publication said it selected the winners based on “their career accomplishments in their respective disciplines.” Law360 said it received more than 1,350 submissions for the Rising Star distinction, and its team of editors chose 176 honorees from that list in 36 different practice areas.
In recognizing Ms. Kim, the publication praised her handling of “numerous high-profile disputes in the entertainment industry,” including her representation of Creative Artists Agency in an arbitration involving a $55 million lawsuit brought by film financier Worldview Entertainment, which in 2018 accused the talent agency of fraudulently inducing the financier to invest in several films that others allegedly didn’t want to invest in.
Ms. Kim joined KBK in 2015 and was promoted to Partner in 2022. She was recognized in Variety’s 2022 “Up Next” segment highlighting young attorneys who have made an impact in entertainment law, and she was recently named to the Board of Directors of Public Counsel, the nation’s largest provider of pro bono legal services. She has achieved several significant victories for high-profile entertainment, media, corporate, and individual clients, including winning a favorable judgment for a prominent entertainment client, securing an arbitration victory for major film studios, and successfully defending a business client in a multimillion-dollar international dispute involving a failed land development project. Ms. Kim has also played a leading role in the firm’s white-collar defense and government investigations practice, helping to secure the dismissal of a $20 million qui tam action for a national construction company.
