June 2024 – For the fifth year in a row, Kendall Brill & Kelly LLP is listed among the nation’s leading law firms by The Legal 500 United States in its 2024 edition. For the third year in a row, Legal 500 also named KBK Partner Richard B. Kendall as one of the nation’s leading litigators in media and entertainment litigation. The publication also singled out KBK Partner Nary Kim as a “next generation” leading lawyer in media and entertainment litigation.

KBK is listed among the nation’s top firms in two categories: media and entertainment litigation, and corporate investigations and white collar criminal defense. The Legal 500 noted that KBK had “years of extensive litigation expertise…securing results for plaintiffs, defendants, and appellants both in and outside of the courtroom.”

In recognizing Mr. Kendall as a leading lawyer, the publication said he represents “Hollywood clients in high-stakes disputes and negotiations.” In recognizing Ms. Kim, it said she had “made a positive impact on the practice, including her assistance in a high-profile dismissal of a lawsuit involving the 1968 adaptation of ‘Romeo and Juliet.’”

The publication also noted that KBK Partner Philip M. Kelly “has galvanized the firm’s copyright capabilities and has been indispensable in securing out of court settlements,” and that KBK Partner Laura W. Brill was an “expert” in appellate law. The Legal 500 also noted that through KBK Counsel Bert H. Deixler, “the firm has successfully managed a variety of intellectual property on behalf of significant individuals and organizations.”

In recognizing the firm’s government investigations and white collar defense practice, the publication noted that KBK is “experienced in representing individuals accused of false claims, consumer fraud, and FCPA violations, among other forms of misconduct.” It noted that one client described KBK Partner Jeffrey H. Rutherford as an “amazing trial attorney who can handle sensitive and complex matters.” It noted that KBK Partner Janet I. Levine represents “a wide range of clients, including politicians, executives, physicians, and judges,” along with KBK Partner Robert Edward Dugdale and KBK Counsel Robert L. Corbin.

To develop its list of top U.S. law firms, The Legal 500 said it relies on its own research and input from clients and law firms to ensure it is “focusing on the true superstars of the profession.”
